Pivoting...

So we got through our usual celebratory months (3 birthdays, anniversary, valentines etc) of the year, this year and managed to not go too mad, but we weren't perfect either! Team this with what I discussed in my January blog post 2021 are we going to undo 2020... about not working out as much as we used to due to the pandemic and working from home. I knew at the beginning of February my grit had to start and it had to start now, but how???

My husband and I sat down and tried to work out what wasn't working and why we couldn't find it in us to work out. Our food had gotten much better in January, but we could not get motivated to work out more than once a week for our PT sessions. It was becoming a waste of time, effort and money. 

We concluded that we were not motivated to go to the gym due to not going to our offices. As it was conveniently situated near work, but we weren't going to work, we were sitting at home. With this, we decided to join the gym right by our home to help motivate us to work out more and decided to see how that went.

Luckily we only paid for one month because we both went twice! So in February, we had 2 gym memberships and still only worked out a handful of times! We had to find something to sort our minds and determination out. So I went hunting to find that something. I looked at all the gyms, PT's, specialised groups, classes etc in Malmö and went hunting for that spark! 

Then I came back across HIIT Basecamp that I had been super intrigued by for years and knew Hanna the owner through Instagram. I have many friends who go, but I had not been before due to being loyal to my previous gym and to be honest, being scared I would not be good enough for the classes. I was always too scared to try it out. But luckily this day my grit kicked in and said GO!!! 

And I couldn't have been more wrong to of put off going for so long!!! The moment I walked in, I knew this was the place for me! I immediately felt the community, respect and care from the other clients and especially the coaches!

I came home after my first class feeling brave, strong and amazing and told my partner he had to go!! He booked a class and we were both hooked!!! So hooked that we bought a membership each and worked out 22 days in March!! And we haven't slowed down yet!! 

Being able to push yourself for 30 minutes and know you can be back home and working within the hour is just enough to get us to go without hesitation! Whether it is a morning, lunchtime or evening class, we go because we don't want to miss it. And it isn't right by our home, we have to get there but it doesn't matter because we want to go!!!

We have managed to find that missing ingredient that makes us want to push ourselves to be better and it is the commitment to a booked class, the energy you can't get anywhere else, a bunch of amazing people and inspiring coaches that you just can't stay away from for to long because you miss them (even when they make you do burpees)!!! 

This combined with Spring making us able to work out outside a couple of days a week getting sweaty and dirty, makes us feel happy and motivated.

They say variety is the spice of life and to be honest trying out new things, changing your usual routines up and pivoting sometimes, is what it takes to keep your mind, body and happiness going!!
